Glue vs. fluid: new approach for smoother breast cancer recovery

NCT ID NCT01742975

Summary

This study tested whether applying a special surgical glue called Ifabond during breast cancer surgery could reduce a common and painful complication called seroma. Seroma is a buildup of fluid under the skin that often requires draining with a needle. The trial involved 104 patients who were randomly assigned to receive either the glue in addition to standard surgery or standard surgery alone, to see if the glue led to less fluid buildup and better comfort after the operation.
