New scanner aims to cut repeat breast cancer surgeries

NCT ID NCT06958991

Summary

This study is testing a special microscope scanner that lets surgeons see cancer cells in real-time during breast-conserving surgery. The goal is to help surgeons remove all the cancer in one operation, reducing the need for patients to have a second surgery. Researchers will track how often repeat surgeries are needed when using this device compared to standard methods.
