Study aims to find best way to pinpoint hidden breast tumors, reduce repeat surgeries
NCT ID NCT05942105
Summary
This study looks back at 1,064 women who had breast cancer surgery to compare four different methods surgeons use to locate small, non-palpable tumors during operations. The goal is to determine which technique most reliably helps surgeons remove all cancerous tissue in one procedure, reducing the need for repeat surgeries. Researchers are comparing traditional wire-guided methods with newer wire-free options to see which leads to cleaner margins, less tissue removal, and better outcomes.
