Glowing cancer cells could help surgeons get it right the first time

NCT ID NCT04815083

Summary

This study tested a special fluorescent dye (PD G 506 A) and camera system to help surgeons see leftover breast cancer cells in real-time during breast-conserving surgery. The goal was to help surgeons remove all the cancer in one operation, reducing the need for patients to have a second surgery. The trial enrolled 57 women with breast cancer to see if this imaging method was safe and effective.
