First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests a single dose of radiation given during breast-conserving surgery for women aged 60 and older with early-stage, low-risk breast cancer. The goal is to see if this shorter, targeted approach works as well as the standard 6.5 weeks of daily radiation. About 519 women took part, and researchers are tracking cancer return and cosmetic results for up to 10 years.
