Genetic test could spare breast cancer patients from harsh radiation

NCT ID NCT04069884

Summary

This study is testing whether a genetic test called RecurIndex can help doctors decide which breast cancer patients need radiation to their lymph nodes after surgery. It aims to see if patients with a low-risk genetic score can safely skip this radiation, potentially reducing side effects like swelling and stiffness, without increasing the risk of the cancer coming back. The study will involve about 540 women who have had surgery for breast cancer that spread to a few nearby lymph nodes.
