One-Shot radiation during surgery aims to zap breast cancer better

NCT ID NCT02927912

Summary

This study is testing a new way to give radiation to women with early-stage breast cancer. During their standard lumpectomy and reconstruction surgery, doctors give a single, targeted dose of radiation directly to the area where the tumor was. The goal is to see if this approach kills cancer cells more effectively while also aiming to reduce long-term side effects like scarring and improve how the breast looks after treatment.
