New scan could help doctors spot hidden breast cancer spread

NCT ID NCT06695039

Summary

This study tested a specialized imaging scan called [18F]FES PET/CT to see how well it could detect breast cancer that had spread to nearby lymph nodes. It involved 71 adults with a specific type of breast cancer (estrogen receptor-positive) who were already scheduled for lymph node surgery. The goal was to see if this scan could accurately identify cancer in the lymph nodes before surgery, potentially helping doctors plan better treatments.
