New pill combo could replace chemo for some breast cancer patients
NCT ID NCT04293393
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of two pills (letrozole and abemaciclib) works as well as standard chemotherapy before surgery in women with a common type of early breast cancer (HR-positive, HER2-negative) that is at high or intermediate risk of coming back. About 200 women will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The main goal is to see how many patients have little or no cancer left in the breast or lymph nodes after treatment.
