New pill combo could replace chemo for some breast cancer patients
NCT ID NCT04293393
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of two pills (letrozole and abemaciclib) works better than standard chemotherapy for women with a common type of early breast cancer (HR-positive, HER2-negative) that is at high or intermediate risk. About 200 women will receive either chemo or the pill combo before surgery. The goal is to see which treatment leaves less cancer remaining in the breast or lymph nodes after surgery.
