Mammograms may reveal hidden heart risks, AI study shows
NCT ID NCT07156006
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This observational study looked at whether calcium deposits in breast arteries (seen on mammograms) are linked to traditional heart disease risk factors. Researchers tested an AI tool to automatically detect these deposits. About 149 women who had mammograms participated, and some also had brain MRIs. The study aimed to understand if these calcifications could serve as a new way to assess heart risk, but it was terminated early.
