Nationwide hunt for answers to save babies with rare birth defect

NCT ID NCT07210736

Summary

This study aims to understand how newborns in Brazil with esophageal atresia—a rare birth defect where the food pipe doesn't form properly—are treated and what their outcomes are. It will collect data from 72 hospitals across the country on 1000 babies to identify what factors lead to complications or death in the first year of life. The goal is to create national evidence to guide better care and improve survival for these infants.
