Scientists scan sleeping brains to unlock cleaning secrets

NCT ID NCT02311374

Summary

This study aimed to understand if the brain's waste-clearing system works differently during sleep compared to being awake. Researchers used MRI scans to measure fluid movement in the brains of 40 healthy adults while they were asleep and awake. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about how sleep might help keep the brain healthy, not to test a treatment.
