Virus therapy takes on childhood brain tumors: a new hope for recurrent cases?
NCT ID NCT06914479
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This early-stage trial tests a new treatment for children and young adults (ages 3-39) with recurrent malignant brain tumors that can be surgically removed. The therapy uses two lab-modified viruses (AdV-HSV1-TK and AdV-Flt3L) injected into the tumor to kill cancer cells and boost the immune system, along with an oral herpes medication (valacyclovir) to make the process work. The main goal is to find the safest dose and check for side effects, with only 11 participants enrolled.
