Scientists try to read minds during brain surgery
NCT ID NCT07499479
Summary
This study aims to see if a computer can predict what word a patient says by reading their brain activity during awake brain tumor surgery. Researchers will record brain signals from 20 adult patients while they name pictures, as part of their standard surgical mapping. The goal is to test if surface brain electrodes, which are less invasive, can provide enough detail for future speech-decoding devices to help people who have lost the ability to talk.
