New scan aims to sharpen the target for brain tumor treatment

NCT ID NCT01165632

Summary

This study tested whether a new type of PET scan (using a tracer called 18F-FDOPA) could help doctors more accurately see brain tumors. The goal was to improve planning for surgery and radiation therapy by comparing the scan images directly to tumor samples taken during surgery. It involved 24 adults with newly diagnosed brain tumors who were already scheduled for surgery.
