First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach for people with borderline personality disorder (BPD) who struggle with intense, unstable emotions. Using real-time brain scans, participants learn to calm an overactive emotion center in the brain. The goal is to see if this training reduces emotional ups and downs more than a placebo version. 164 adults with BPD who haven't improved with standard therapies will take part.
