Scientists scan brains to unlock Anorexia's food avoidance mystery

NCT ID NCT05155280

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the brain chemical serotonin affects food avoidance in people with anorexia nervosa. Researchers used advanced brain scans and food choice tests to compare brain activity in 57 women with and without anorexia. The goal was to gather knowledge that could one day lead to new treatments, but the study itself did not test any treatments.
