Scientists scan brains to unlock better speech therapy for cleft palate kids

NCT ID NCT07330687

Summary

This study used brain scans to understand why speech therapy is often difficult for children with cleft palate who have a specific speech disorder called compensatory articulation. Researchers compared brain images from children with the speech disorder, children with cleft palate but normal speech, and healthy children, before and after speech training. The goal was to see how speech therapy changes brain networks, which could lead to more effective treatments in the future.
