Zapping the brain during surgery to stop Post-Op confusion

NCT ID NCT07480044

Summary

This study is testing whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique, given during surgery, can prevent postoperative delirium—a serious state of sudden confusion—in older adults having urological procedures like prostate or kidney surgery. Researchers will use a magnetic coil on the patient's head to stimulate a specific brain area while they are under anesthesia. They will then monitor patients for seven days after surgery to see if this treatment reduces the risk and severity of delirium compared to standard care.
