Scientists test MRI-Guided brain zaps paired with therapy to fight depression

NCT ID NCT03289923

Summary

This study tested a new approach for treating major depression that did not fully respond to standard medications. Researchers combined two treatments: magnetic brain stimulation (rTMS) guided by a person's own brain scan, and a computer-based talk therapy session, delivered at the same time. The goal was to see if this personalized, combined method could better engage the brain's mood-regulation circuits and improve depression symptoms more effectively than usual approaches.
