Scientists zap brains to unlock memory secrets

NCT ID NCT05923606

First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study uses a gentle, noninvasive technique called transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) to temporarily change brain rhythms while healthy volunteers perform memory tasks. Researchers will measure brain activity with EEG to understand how different brain waves interact during working memory. The goal is to learn more about memory processes, not to treat any condition. About 32 healthy adults who are fluent in English and have no history of neurological or psychiatric disorders can join.
