Magnetic pulses to the brain: new hope for the toughest OCD cases

NCT ID NCT05331937

Summary

This study is testing whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique, called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), can help adults with severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) who have not gotten better with standard exposure therapy. Participants will receive either real or sham (placebo) magnetic pulses to a specific brain area four times a week for 5-7 weeks, while continuing their therapy. The main goal is to see if the real stimulation is more effective and cost-effective at reducing OCD symptoms than the sham treatment.
