Brain surgery trial offers hope for most violent patients

NCT ID NCT07315685

Summary

This study is testing whether a surgical procedure called deep brain stimulation can help control severe, dangerous aggression in patients with schizophrenia or autism. The six participants have not responded to any other treatments and are confined to secure psychiatric units. Doctors will implant a device to deliver electrical pulses to a specific brain area, hoping to reduce violent episodes and improve quality of life.
