Brain pacemaker trial aims to help Parkinson's patients walk again

NCT ID NCT02931097

Summary

This study tested whether deep brain stimulation targeting a specific walking-control area of the brain could improve gait and balance problems in people with advanced Parkinson's disease. Six participants with severe walking issues that didn't respond well to standard medication received the experimental stimulation. Researchers compared different stimulation settings in a blinded, controlled manner to see which worked best.
