Zapping pain away: brain stimulation trial offers hope for sedated ICU patients

NCT ID NCT06179199

Summary

This study is testing whether a gentle, non-drug brain stimulation technique can help reduce pain in sedated patients in intensive care. Researchers will compare real stimulation to a placebo in 40 patients to see if it lowers the need for strong painkillers like morphine. They will measure pain using a special eye test since these patients cannot communicate.
