Zap your brain to exercise? study tests magnetic stimulation for fitness motivation

NCT ID NCT03733041

Summary

This study tested whether a non-invasive magnetic brain stimulation could help older veterans stick with a home exercise program. Researchers enrolled 72 sedentary veterans over 60 and had them use a Nintendo Wii Fit for balance exercises at home. Some participants received real or fake magnetic stimulation to the front part of their brain to see if it improved their ability to plan and follow through with exercise routines. The goal was to see if this approach could improve exercise adherence and reduce fall risk.
