Scientists zap deep brain to unlock social joy in depression

NCT ID NCT07287878

Summary

This study aims to understand how a specific type of non-invasive brain stimulation affects the brain's 'social reward' system in people with depression. Researchers will use brain scans and behavioral tests to see how stimulation of deep brain areas changes activity and connectivity. The goal is to learn more about why social interaction is difficult in depression and identify potential new targets for future treatments.
