5-Day brain zap trial offers hope for seniors with untreatable depression
NCT ID NCT07212465
Summary
This study is testing whether a faster, 5-day schedule of non-invasive brain stimulation can help reduce depression in older adults (ages 60-85) who haven't gotten better with standard antidepressant medications. Researchers will use a magnetic coil placed on the head to stimulate a specific brain area and compare the real treatment to a placebo. The main goals are to see if this accelerated approach is safe, tolerable, and shows signs of reducing depressive symptoms more than the sham treatment.
