Brain pacemaker trial aims to reawaken consciousness
NCT ID NCT07228286
Summary
This early study is testing whether electrical stimulation of specific brain areas can help patients with severe, long-term consciousness disorders regain awareness. Researchers will implant small electrodes in the brains of 2 participants and test two different stimulation targets over 10 months. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and whether it can improve measurable signs of consciousness in people who have been minimally responsive for months.
