Scientists scan brains to unlock secrets of alcohol cravings

NCT ID NCT05843435

Summary

This study used powerful brain scanners to look at how two key brain processes interact in people with alcohol use disorder: the urge to drink when seeing alcohol cues and the brain's ability to inhibit that urge. Researchers studied 59 people to see if the relationship between these brain signals could help explain cravings and predict who might relapse. The goal was to improve understanding of the disorder, not to test a treatment.
