Brain scan could predict depression before it starts

NCT ID NCT05427578

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a simple, non-invasive brain scan could detect patterns linked to a person's risk for depression. Researchers used a special light-based scanner (fNIRS) while 90 participants performed a word task. They compared brain activity in people who had recovered from depression, healthy people with a family history of depression, and healthy people with no family history to look for potential 'markers' of vulnerability.
