Scientists zap brains to unlock secrets of walking
NCT ID NCT02976298
Summary
This study aimed to understand how two specific brain areas help us keep our balance when we start walking. Researchers temporarily reduced activity in these brain areas in 20 healthy volunteers using safe magnetic stimulation. They then measured how this affected the volunteers' first steps and balance control.
