Brain stent vs. brain shunt: race to save sight

NCT ID NCT05050864

Summary

This study compares two procedures for people with a condition where high pressure in the brain causes swelling of the optic nerve, which can lead to vision loss. For patients whose vision problems don't improve with standard medication, researchers want to see if placing a stent in a brain vein or implanting a fluid-draining shunt works better. The goal is to find which procedure is more effective and safer at reducing the pressure and protecting vision.
