Brain stent vs. shunt: race to save sight from mysterious pressure

NCT ID NCT05050864

Summary

This study compares two procedures for adults with idiopathic intracranial hypertension, a condition where high pressure in the skull threatens vision after standard medication fails. Researchers will test whether placing a stent in a narrowed brain vein or surgically inserting a fluid-draining shunt is more effective at reducing pressure and resolving swelling in the eye. The goal is to determine which method better preserves or improves vision with fewer complications.
