Scientists watch tiny brains during major heart operations

NCT ID NCT04206683

Summary

This study aimed to better understand how a young child's brain is affected during major heart surgery. Researchers observed 15 children, aged 6 to 36 months, while they were under anesthesia for open-heart surgery. They used special sensors on the forehead to measure brain oxygen levels and electrical activity to see how they relate to each other.
