New monitor could give doctors Real-Time brain oxygen data in critical care

NCT ID NCT06511999

Summary

This study is testing a new type of catheter that can continuously measure oxygen levels in the blood leaving the brain of comatose patients who have survived a cardiac arrest. The goal is to see if this new, real-time monitor is as accurate as the current method, which requires drawing blood and sending it to a lab every few hours. Researchers will enroll 25 participants to compare the two methods and collect blood samples to look for signs of brain injury.
