Scientists scan brains to unlock mystery of muscle spasms

NCT ID NCT03042962

Summary

This study aims to understand what causes different types of focal dystonia, a condition that causes involuntary muscle spasms in specific body parts like the eyes, jaw, hands, or voice. Researchers will use brain scans to compare the brain structure and activity of people with dystonia to their unaffected relatives and healthy volunteers. The goal is to identify differences in brain networks that may lead to these disorders.
