Sleep disorder brain scans could predict Parkinson's years early
NCT ID NCT05976971
First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study used a very strong MRI machine (7 Tesla) to look for tiny brain changes in 31 people with a sleep condition called REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD). Many people with RBD later develop Parkinson's disease. The goal was to find early brain markers that could help diagnose Parkinson's sooner, so future treatments might be tested earlier. Participants had brain scans and were compared to healthy volunteers.
