Brain scans reveal clues about PCOS in young women

NCT ID NCT03043924

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at brain scans of 52 women (some with PCOS, some healthy) to see if PCOS causes changes in a brain area called the hypothalamus. Researchers used special MRI techniques to measure water movement and chemical levels in the brain. The goal was to better understand how PCOS affects the body's hormone control center, not to test a treatment.
