Smartwatches and brain scans unlock secrets of uncontrollable behaviors

NCT ID NCT06050369

Summary

This study aims to find physical markers in the brain and body that can help doctors tell the difference between tics (like in Tourette's) and compulsions (like in OCD). Researchers will use portable EEG brain scanners and smartwatches to record 50 patients both in a lab and at home over two weeks. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better diagnosis and treatment selection in the future, but this study itself does not test a treatment.
