Tiny radiation tiles placed during brain surgery tested against standard treatment
NCT ID NCT04365374
Summary
This study compares two ways to deliver radiation after surgery to remove brain tumors that have spread from cancer elsewhere in the body. It tests whether placing small, dissolvable radiation tiles (GammaTile) directly in the tumor cavity during surgery works better than the standard approach of delivering focused radiation (SRT) a few weeks later. The main goal is to see which method better prevents the tumor from growing back at the surgical site while maintaining patients' quality of life and thinking abilities.
