New brain mapping aims to protect speech and movement during tumor surgery

NCT ID NCT02754544

Summary

This study is testing a brain mapping technique called electrocorticography (ECoG) during surgery to remove brain tumors. The goal is to see if this method can better identify the brain areas responsible for movement and speech, helping surgeons avoid damaging them. Researchers will enroll about 75 adults with brain tumors near these critical areas. They will compare the new mapping results to standard methods used before and during surgery.
