Brain cancer trial tests aggressive chemo vs. stem cell transplant
NCT ID NCT01011920
Summary
This study tested different combinations of chemotherapy drugs, with or without a targeted antibody drug, for adults newly diagnosed with lymphoma that starts in the brain or spinal cord. After initial chemo, patients who responded well were randomly assigned to receive either radiation to the whole brain or a high-dose chemotherapy treatment supported by their own stem cells. The goal was to see which approach better controlled the cancer and kept it from coming back.
