Brain electrodes may predict new lesions after head trauma

NCT ID NCT04585503

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether special electrodes placed on the brain can detect early warning signs of new damage in patients with severe head injury or brain bleeding. Twenty patients in intensive care had these electrodes placed alongside standard monitoring. The goal was to see if the technique is safe and provides useful information, not to treat the condition directly.
