Brain scans reveal hidden damage after heart infection
NCT ID NCT02252900
First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study followed 100 people who had a serious heart infection (infectious endocarditis) to see how brain lesions found during the infection changed over time. Researchers used MRI scans and thinking tests to compare results from the acute phase and later follow-up. The goal was to understand the long-term brain effects, not to test a new treatment.
