Scientists search for early clues to newborn brain injury
NCT ID NCT07292220
Summary
This study aims to understand if a protein in the blood, called neurofilament light chain (NfL), can help doctors assess brain injury in newborns who experience oxygen deprivation at birth (hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy or HIE). Researchers will measure this protein at several time points in 20 newborns receiving cooling therapy and compare them to healthy newborns. The goal is to see if this marker can help predict a baby's recovery and guide future care.
