New shot could save brains after falls in elderly

NCT ID NCT04521881

Summary

This large study is testing if a simple muscle injection of a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA), given soon after a mild head injury, can help older adults. The goal is to see if it reduces brain bleeding, disability, death, and the later development of dementia. About 5000 adults aged 50+ with symptoms like confusion or nausea after a head injury will receive either the drug or a placebo shot.
