Scientists test special ultrasound to map preemie brains

NCT ID NCT05694611

Summary

This study aimed to test two new ultrasound techniques to measure blood flow and tissue stiffness in the brains of premature babies. Researchers planned to scan 100 infants around their original due date and compare the ultrasound results to standard MRI brain scans. The goal was to see if these safer, quicker ultrasound methods could provide similar information about brain health without needing sedation or radiation.
