New PET tracer could spot brain protein clumps in movement disorders

NCT ID NCT06032026

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a radioactive tracer called 11C-HY-2-15 to see how it spreads through the body and whether it can highlight abnormal alpha-synuclein protein clumps in the brains of people with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Researchers will compare brain scans from 70 adults with MSA, Parkinson's disease, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and healthy volunteers. The goal is to improve diagnosis and understanding of these conditions, not to provide treatment.
