Brain drainage surgery offers new hope for slowing Alzheimer's

NCT ID NCT07328386

Summary

This study is testing whether a new type of microsurgery in the neck can help slow down Alzheimer's disease. The surgery aims to improve the brain's natural waste drainage system, which is thought to be faulty in Alzheimer's. Researchers will compare the surgery plus standard medication against medication alone in 114 adults with mild to moderate Alzheimer's. The main goal is to see if the procedure can slow cognitive decline over two years.
